VALEK X. SYKES - PROJECT SUPERVISOR AND OWNER OF TECH WORKS FX STUDIOS

Valek Sykes is owner and president of the very talented and innovative TECH WORKS FX STUDIOS.  TECH WORKS is a successful special effects and creature effects company catering to the needs of the motion picture, television and advertising industries.  Talent and attention to detail by Valek and his staff have forged the young company into a serious competitor within the entertainment industry.
 
Valek began his career making 16mm and video movies at Bensalem High School in Philadelphia.  After a term during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the United States Marine Corps he furthered his education by graduating with honors from the prestigious Tyler School of Art at Temple University.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree he concentrated on special effects and make-up effects until he finally moved to Los Angeles and forced his way up through the ranks of the effects industry working for effects legends like Stan Winston and Rick Baker.  His talents as a sculptor and mechanical designer lead him to work on such films as Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, I Am Legend, and G.I. JOE.

Since founding the company, Valek has worked on numerous features, commercials, television productions and even stage illusions to build an impressive portfolio for himself and his company.  He has continued to improve himself by working in various disciplines such as writing, producing, illusion design and coordinating make up and special effects.

He is also a family man.  He has been married for 14 years to his love, Jeannie; together they have four children.

Valek’s passion has lead him to his present project, ”Sooey” a horror/comedy, political satire feature set for production in 2010.  He is determined to leave his mark in the entertainment industry.
